Curriculum and Activities
At Little Explorers, we use developmentally appropriate, play-based curriculum in every classroom because we believe young children learn best through hands-on, meaningful, and joyful experiences. Our classrooms are designed to be engaging, flexible, and rich with opportunities for exploration, creativity, and growth.
Beginning August 2026, we will be implementing the full Happy Daffer Curriculum across all classrooms.
Happy Daffer is a comprehensive, research-based, play-centered curriculum that supports children’s growth in all areas of development—cognitive, social, emotional, physical, and language. It emphasizes learning through play, real-life experiences, and purposeful teacher-guided activities that inspire curiosity and a love of learning.
Infants & Toddlers
In our infant and toddler classrooms, learning happens through relationships, exploration, and sensory-rich experiences. Using the PLAYbook curriculum as a foundation and transitioning into Happy Daffer in August 2026, children engage in:
Sensory and messy play
Early language development and sign language
Music and movement
Simple art and creative expression
Storytime and early literacy exposure
Gross and fine motor development
Safe, child-led exploration tailored to each child’s developmental stage
Preschool
Our preschool classroom is designed to support kindergarten readiness while maintaining a joyful, play-based approach to learning. With the transition to Happy Daffer in August 2026, our preschoolers will experience a rich, hands-on curriculum that blends structured learning with creative and child-led discovery.
Preschool learning includes:
Daily circle time and group discussions
Center-based learning (dramatic play, blocks, art, writing, and sensory)
Early literacy and math skills
Hands-on STEM projects and problem-solving activities
Science exploration and discovery
Art, music, and movement
Daily outdoor learning and nature play
A strong focus is placed on social–emotional learning, helping children develop skills in sharing, taking turns, problem-solving, emotional regulation, and building positive relationships with peers and teachers.
We also enhance learning through field trips and community experiences, allowing children to connect classroom learning to the real world through visits to local businesses, nature walks, and special community events.
Center-Wide Activities
Across all classrooms, children regularly engage in:
Outdoor play and gross motor activities
Art and sensory exploration
Music, movement, and rhythm activities
Hands-on STEM experiences
Storytime and early literacy building
Social–emotional skill development
Field trips and special events
At Little Explorers, we create an environment where children feel safe, valued, and excited to learn. We encourage curiosity, creativity, and confidence through meaningful play every day—preparing children not only for kindergarten, but for a lifelong love of learning.
